The citizens of Moldova should know who are our friends and who are the enemies, President Maia Sandu said on the air of one of the TV channels.

“Moldovans have never been on the side of the killers and will not be on the side of the killers. We condemn Russia's aggression against Ukraine from the first day of the war. I spoke sharply about the fact that Russia is trying to overthrow the constitutional order in the Republic of Moldova, when I had evidence of this,” she explained.

Sandu said that the country's authorities are aware of Russia's plans to interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova and speak aloud about propaganda and disinformation from Russia.

“At the moment when we had convincing evidence that in Chisinau they were trying to overthrow the government elected by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova democratically, we went out and spoke publicly so that our people know who our friends are and who our enemies are,” she said..

The head of state claims that the resources necessary for the development of the Republic of Moldova come from Romania, the EU, the US and Japan – this money is spent on the renovation of kindergartens, schools and hospitals. At the same time, Russia does not provide any assistance, but brings blackmail and war.

During her speech in the Parliament of Moldova on March 17, Sanda appealed to all state institutions with a call to “combat propaganda that intoxicates people and ensure that citizens are informed correctly, understandably and in a timely manner”.

To counter pressure from the Russian Federation, the EU is considering providing the Moldovan armed forces with additional assistance of 40 million euros to strengthen air surveillance, logistics and cyber defense.

Previously, Sandu did not rule out that discussions could begin in Moldova on moving away from the neutral status enshrined in the constitution and joining a “broader alliance”.

The country signed an agreement with NATO to support its defense capability.
