Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This is stated in a statement on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The two sides discussed the dialogue between the two countries: Lavrov "pointed to the illusory attempts of sanctions pressure on Russia, which Washington once again resorted to on June 20". According to him, Russian-American relations are already going through a difficult period, and such actions expose them even more to risk.
The statement also says that Moscow was forced to postpone the meeting of deputy foreign ministers scheduled for June 23, during which it was planned to discuss the accumulated problems in Russian-American relations. In addition, the ministers discussed the situation in Syria - Moscow urged Washington to comply with all previously reached agreements - and in the east of Ukraine, both sides agreed to make additional efforts to fully implement the Minsk agreements.
