Will the Russian State Duma decide to adopt a law that invalidates the decision of the Congress of People's Deputies of the USSR on the condemnation of the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and the secret protocols to this document If he accepts, I think there will be nothing unexpected in this.

In Russia, more than once at the highest level - including in the statements of the foreign ministry of this country, the union of Stalin and Hitler was highly appreciated, and the pact itself, in full accordance with the fictions of Soviet propaganda, was declared necessary and very useful for the country.

In September 2019, precisely such an assessment of the pact was given in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which appeared just on the anniversary of the joint parade of Soviet and Nazi troops in occupied Brest, just after the destruction by Poland by the aggressors. But as for the joint protocols that divided Europe between the two killer dictators, the Soviet leaders safely denied and hid them until the Gorbachev perestroika. Why not pretend now that they never existed?

The issue of “rehabilitation” of the pact is especially interesting in these June days, when the 80th anniversary of the occupation of the Baltic countries by Soviet troops is celebrated.. The very occupation, the fact of which was ascertained in recognition of the restoration of the statehood of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia by the relevant decision of the USSR State Council in 1991 and the very occupation, the fact of which the Russian leadership denies.

It was on the June days of 1940 that, literally in a few days, the Soviet troops took control of state institutions and the entire infrastructure of the Baltic countries, replaced the power there and within a few months the puppet " "

Today, of course, one won’t dare seriously talk about the “voluntariness” of such an accession. I think that not a single person who knows at least approximately Soviet history understands how all this was done in the Soviet Union. But there is another argument, which is much more important for modern zealots of " In a word, if not for us - Hitler would be there.

And here, I’m sure, this is precisely the main lie, which will then be used both during the period of the occupation of Afghanistan and during the annexation of Crimea. The thing is - and few remember today - that at the time of the occupation of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, the territory of these countries already contained impressive military contingents of the Soviet Union, which appeared there after the ultimatum from the Kremlin. And these contingents exceeded the number of armies of the Baltic countries.

But Hitler, on the contrary, evacuated all the local Germans from the Baltic, because he knew about the upcoming Soviet occupation. In June 1941, the Reichswehr occupies Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia without any problems.. The Red Army will not receive any strategic advantage from being in these countries.

But from this, Soviet propaganda will not change. When the occupation of Afghanistan was being prepared, Moscow would again speak in a similar language: if not for us, the Americans would come there. But in 1979 in Kabul there was a regime friendly to the Soviet Union, and it was he who asked for military assistance. Not against the Americans, but against their own people.

When a decision is made on the annexation of Crimea, I also recall that they will again remember about the Americans. Again, this version will not stand up to criticism for one simple reason..

In Crimea - as in the Baltic countries in 1940 - there was already a Russian military base at the time of the occupation. And Ukraine had no legal opportunities to get rid of it after the Kharkov agreements. What are the Americans?

There is propaganda and there is history. And you can, of course, accept any decisions of the State Duma, but that's just the truth about what happened to the Soviet and Russian invasions of neighboring countries, this will not change.
