The new version of the Decree reduces the number of apostrophes, and also introduces two digraphs. As it was said on the official website of the head of state, only 32 letters are included in the new alphabet, whereas the Kazakh alphabet based on the Cyrillic alphabet includes 42 letters.

Let us recall that for 11 years Kazakhstan used the Latin alphabet of the Kazakh language, which was replaced by the Arabic script. Then the country switched to using Cyrillic alphabet.

As reported URA-Inform, October 27, 2017 Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered by 2025 to completely switch from Cyrillic to Latin. The President of the country signed a decree on the start of activities for the phased transfer of the Kazakh language into the Latin alphabet.
