"The Turkish Armed Forces launched a military operation in order to ensure stability and security in the north-west of Syria," the General Staff reported on the website of the TV channel. The military operations began at 5:00 pm (coincides with Moscow time).

According to CNN Turk, in the daytime over the border with Syria, the Turkish province of Hatay, in the districts of Reyhanli and Kyrykhan, Turkish Air Force aircraft appeared. Soon after crossing the planes in Africa, "the sounds of a rupture of shells began to be heard".

Videotape from the shooting site is published by eyewitnesses on Twitter. On the published record you can see a large column of thick smoke.
