More than half of the member countries of the Organization requested a meeting following the announcement by the President of the United States of America Donald Trump of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The delegations of Bolivia, Egypt, France, Italy, Senegal, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Uruguay are asking the Chairman to convene an emergency meeting of the Council by the end of this week with a briefing by the Secretary-General.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, Trump said that the US recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and instructed the State Department to begin preparations for the transfer of the American Embassy from Tel Aviv.
