In case of emergencies related to power outages and stops in the capital of electric transport, “Kievpastrans” has developed appropriate measures. The Kyiv City State Administration reported this in response to a request from Telegraph..

In particular, it is planned to replace trolleybuses and trams with buses. According to the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration, if the situation in the energy system worsens, then additional buses will be put on routes in addition to those that run daily. The number of such buses in the Kyiv City State Administration is promised to be determined depending on passenger traffic and the current situation..

If emergency situations arise related to shelling, then Kievpastrans will work on the possibility of duplicating certain sections of metro lines with buses. True, the Kyiv City State Administration did not clarify whether we are talking about complete duplication of metro traffic from the terminal stations of all three lines, or only about sections to junction stations.

Also, the Kyiv City State Administration did not report how many buses could be put on route if the metro partially or completely stops. The question also remained unanswered: will there be enough of those buses to transport passengers, in particular between the left and right banks of the Dnieper.

At the same time, the Kiev Metro noted to the publication that its competence does not include organizing duplication of train traffic by ground transport and coordinating the work of the transport infrastructure of Kyiv. That is, the metro itself does not participate in decision-making on alternative passenger transportation schemes in the event of energy failures. The utility company carries out only those decisions made by the city government.

As for the city train, it is run by Ukrzaliznytsia. And it is UZ that determines operating modes and possible alternative transportation scenarios in the event of a lack of power supply. Ukrzaliznytsia has not yet contacted the city authorities with proposals or requests for duplicating the movement of the city train with buses.

According to the head of Ukrenergo Vitaly Zaichenko, if the average daily temperature remains at -10°C or lower for a whole week, the Ukrainian energy system will enter a critical operating mode.

According to him, electricity consumption will increase so sharply that even maximum imports and all available domestic generation will not be able to cover the deficit..

At the same time, the chairman of the Union of Consumers of Utilities of Ukraine Oleg Popenko noted that if the Russians do not stop their energy terror and there is no peaceful “energy track”, as last year, then Kyiv will be virtually completely left without electricity when the air temperature drops to -5-10 degrees.
