Ukrainians continue to receive pensions and other social payments. There are different types of pensions in Ukraine, among them there is a disability pension. The Main Directorate of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) in the Odessa region told how to apply for a disability pension for a military personnel and what the amount of payments can be.

What are the conditions for granting a disability pension for the military?.
The PFU explained that according to Law No. 2262 “On pension provision for persons discharged from military service and certain other persons,” military personnel whose disability occurred during service or no later than three months after dismissal are entitled to a disability pension.
“Also, the right to a pension arises if disability occurred later, but its cause was an illness, injury or contusion received during service, or as a result of injury or injury during the defense of the Motherland or the performance of official duties,” the message says..
The Fund added that the disability pension is assigned after dismissal from service.
If a military man is still serving, then under certain conditions (in particular, the presence of insurance experience) he can apply for a pension according to the provisions of the law “On Compulsory State Insurance”, with the possibility of switching to a military pension after leaving service.
How is the degree of disability determined?.
The PFU noted that the groups and causes of disability, as well as the time of its onset, are established by expert teams to assess the daily functioning of a person.
Depending on the degree of disability, persons with disabilities are divided into three groups.
Thus, depending on the cause of disability, military personnel are divided into the following categories:.
persons with disabilities due to war - upon the onset of disability due to wounds, contusions, mutilations, illnesses received during the defense of the Motherland, performing military service duties (official duties);
other persons with disabilities from among the military - upon the onset of disability due to injury received as a result of an accident not related to the performance of military service duties (official duties), or due to a disease associated with service.
What documents are needed to assign a disability pension to a military man?.
The Fund noted that the issue of submission and execution of documents is regulated by the Procedure for submission and execution of documents for the assignment (recalculation) of pensions in accordance with Law No. 2262, approved by Resolution of the PFU Board of January 30, 2007 No. 3-1.
Thus, according to the Procedure, applications for a disability pension by persons discharged from military service are submitted to the territorial body of the PFU through the authorized structural units of the Ministry of Defense.

How much disability pension can military personnel receive?.
The PFU emphasized that disability pensions according to Law No. 2262 are assigned in the following amounts:.
persons with disabilities due to war:.
Group I - 100% of the corresponding amounts of monetary support (earnings);
Group II - 80% of the corresponding amounts of monetary support (earnings);
Group III - 60% of the corresponding amounts of monetary support (earnings).
other persons with disabilities:.
Group I - 70% of the corresponding amounts of monetary support (earnings);
Group II - 60% of the corresponding amounts of monetary support (earnings);
Group III - 40% of the corresponding amounts of cash support (earnings).
The Pension Fund added that the minimum pension for persons with disabilities due to war cannot be less than:.
for group I - 16,847 UAH;
Group II - 13,822 UAH;
III group - 9,478 UAH.
