In Ukraine, labor relations between employer and employee are regulated by relevant legislation. The employee must receive wages for his work. Specialists from the South-Eastern Interregional Department of the Civil Service on Labor Issues explained whether the salary could be below the minimum.

Derzhpratsi noted that in accordance with Article 21 of the Law of Ukraine “On Remuneration of Labor”, an employee has the right to payment for his work in accordance with acts of legislation and a collective agreement on the basis of a concluded employment contract.
“The amount of wages may be lower than that established by the employment contract and the minimum wage in the event of failure to meet production standards, manufacturing of products that turned out to be defective, and for other reasons provided for by current legislation that were due to the fault of the employee,” the message says..
Experts emphasized that any reduction in wages is prohibited depending on origin, social and property status, race and nationality, gender, language, political views, religious beliefs, membership in a trade union or other association of citizens, type and nature of occupation, place of residence.
