Ukrainians often take pets with them on trips. Not everyone has their own car, so they use public transport, in particular taxi. The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories initiated the creation of the rules for the transportation of animals in road transport.

The draft act provides for amendments to the rules for the provision of passenger road services, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of February 18, 1997. No. 176, and the rules for the transportation of animals approved by the Cabinet Resolution of November 16, 2011. No. 1402.

According to the explanatory note, the draft act is proposed:.

Install the requirements for the transportation of medium (weighing from 10 to 20 kg) and large dogs (weighing from 20 to 45 kg) as well as guide dogs;

establish a requirement for the mandatory availability of a veterinary document on an animal for its transportation;

Clearly regulate the rights and obligations of participants in transportation (car carriers, drivers, passengers) in terms of transportation of pets in the vehicle cabin.

Also, the adoption of the act will ensure the introduction of clear requirements for the transportation of pets in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, will help increase the safety of passengers, drivers and animals themselves when using commercial road transport.
