91 Ukrainians evacuated from Sudan

From April 24 to April 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in cooperation with other departments, in particular the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, evacuated 91 Ukrainians who found themselves in the combat zone in Sudan. In total, three groups of citizens were evacuated within three days.. In the first one there were 83 Ukrainians and 4 Sudanese - members of their families, as well as 51 foreigners (citizens of Georgia, Peru, Canada, St. Kitts and Nevis). 64 Ukrainians expressed a desire to return to their homeland. Last night, April 26, a charter flight took them to Poland, the GUR MO reports on Facebook.. Then the citizens returned to Ukraine.

Another group of 5 Ukrainians was taken by bus to Egypt yesterday morning. Now these people are safe. 3 more citizens were evacuated in coordination with the German government. In general, thanks to a multi-level carefully planned operation, Ukraine has already evacuated 91 citizens from Sudan.



“We continue to monitor the development of the situation and take measures to ensure the safety of our citizens in Sudan,” says the Foreign Ministry spokesman. - In case of their desire to evacuate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt will provide them with maximum assistance. We will not leave a single Ukrainian in Sudan to the mercy of fate.”.
