In early May, the Verkhovna Rada again plans to extend the period of martial law and general mobilization, said Yaroslav Zheleznyak, MP from the Holos faction.. Both were introduced in Ukraine due to a full-scale Russian invasion.

According to the parliamentarian, the martial law is likely to be extended for 90 days, starting from May 19. That is, martial law will be in effect until about mid-August 2023..

“Let me remind you that this will be the seventh parliamentary vote for martial law since the start of the war.. Prior to this, the Rada has already approved such decisions six times: on February 24, March 15, April 21, August 15 and November 16, 2022, and this year on February 7,” said Zheleznyak..

Martial law was introduced in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in connection with the full-scale invasion of the Russian army. As of the end of 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian defenders had already fired 40% of the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russian troops after February 24.

At the same time, from December 30, 2022, the rules for military registration in Ukraine have changed in Ukraine, which are spelled out in a new government decree.
