Many cemeteries in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as in areas near active hostilities, can still be mined, said Oleksandr Khorunzhiy, a representative of the State Emergency Service (GSChS)..

According to him, before going to the cemetery, it is necessary to check with the local authorities whether it was checked for the presence of explosive objects and whether they were removed if they were there..

“We draw attention to the fact that it is necessary to consult with local authorities: is this or that cemetery cleared of explosive objects, can people come to memorial days. The pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service, the explosive technicians of the National Police, the National Guard, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working on this - all information about the work carried out goes to the local authorities,"

The most contaminated with explosives, according to Khorunzhy, are the territories of the Kherson region, Kharkiv region, partially Mykolaiv region, Zaporozhye, Donbass, Sumy region and Chernihiv region.

" But in the Kyiv region, virtually all critical infrastructure and life support facilities have been cleared, some forest areas and fields remain mined,"

The State Emergencies Service receives reports almost every day of people being injured or killed as a result of contact with mines and ammunition..

As a result of the invasion of the Russian army, Ukraine has become one of the largest minefields in the world. Earlier we wrote about how to protect children from contact with mines..
