At the Tabaki checkpoint in the Odessa region, border guards detained a citizen of Moldova, who was supposed to transport the relics of 80 saints and other church utensils from Odessa to Moldova.

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, church contraband was discovered during the inspection of the Volvo truck - in the driver's cab there was an ark with the relics of 80 saints, an icon and a temple lectern.

As the border guards found out, a citizen of Moldova, on behalf of his friend from Odessa, had to transport all the items across the border and deliver them to the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the city of Vulcanesti, as if on holidays. At the same time, the transportation was so careless that the relics fell out of their places..

Border guards reported the incident to the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine. Church utensils were confiscated and a criminal case was opened under the article “Smuggling”.
