Due to the military invasion of the Russian Federation, some Ukrainians were forced to go abroad. People often take their pets with them, but there are certain rules for transporting them.. In particular, last week new rules for the transportation of cats and dogs that cross the EU border with their owners came into force.. This is stated on the website of the Main Veterinary Inspectorate of Poland, writes sud. ua.

What documents are needed to import animals to Poland.

From March 27, 2023, animals with owners (up to five animals) that move from the territory of Ukraine must meet the requirements in accordance with EU law.

Owners of dogs, cats and ferrets can import them under the standard procedure if all EU requirements are met:.

the animal is correctly identified by a microchip;

has a valid rabies vaccination;

the animal has a current serological test to determine the anti-rabies antibody titer;

accompanied by a health certificate in accordance with the model established by EU law, a valid passport issued in one of the EU member states.

It should be noted that until the Polish authorities require a 90-day waiting period from the date of blood sampling to check the anti-rabies antibody titer in the blood serum, if the test result is satisfactory (\u003e 0.5 IU / ml) and is indicated in the animal's health certificate.

“In the health certificate, the Ukrainian official veterinarian must cross out the relevant certificate regarding the 90-day waiting period, putting his signature and seal with the name. Documentation on the examination must be attached to the health certificate, ”the Main Veterinary Inspectorate of Poland noted..

Also, documentation of the examination must be added to the health certificate of the animal..

Earlier we wrote that Ukraine may introduce new rules for transporting animals in a car.
