Kyiv police detained a man who, despite martial law and curfew, launched a fireworks display in the courtyard of a high-rise building. At the same time, an air alert was announced in the city..

The incident occurred on the night of March 24 in the Svyatoshinsky district on Borshchagovka. Two men celebrated the birthday of one of them, drank alcohol, and then a friend of the birthday boy offered to start fireworks.

Residents of the microdistrict called the police with a statement that an unknown man launched a salute in the microdistrict. The incident occurred in the courtyard of the house on Alexander Makhova street. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene seized used pyrotechnics for 36 shots from the scene.

After going around nearby houses, talking to local residents and watching video from surveillance cameras, the police identified the alleged intruder and detained him.. It turned out to be a 28-year-old native of the Kyiv region previously convicted for illegal possession of drugs..

As the offender explained to the police, he came to a friend's birthday and in this way decided to congratulate him.

During an urgent search of the apartment, investigators seized the remains of a fireworks package, a lighter, and clothing that the defendant was wearing at the time of the offense..

Criminal proceedings have been initiated on the fact. 1 st. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - hooliganism. Now a fireworks lover faces a restriction of freedom for up to five years.

Kyiv police noted that the use of pyrotechnics under martial law is prohibited.
