On New Year's Eve, 140 of our people returned from Russian captivity. This was announced by the head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak.
“In the New Year, we not only repulse enemy missile attacks, but also return our people. This is another major exchange that we managed to make - 140 people are returning home,"
He added that among the liberated Ukrainians were the wounded, as well as the defenders of Mariupol, Zmeiny Island, volunteers from the Troops from Slavutych, as well as our defenders from the Bakhmut direction. According to Yermak, fathers and sons who were in captivity together were released.
In particular, the following are exempt:.
82 military APU;
15 Terrorists;
22 national guardsmen;
11 military navies;
10 border guards.
Among the Ukrainians who return home are 132 people and eight women. Of these, 22 officers and 118 sergeants and soldiers.

During the last exchange, 64 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as a US citizen, were returned to their homes. Among the liberated, the military who fought in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions took part in the defense of Bakhmut.
