OIFF together with the National Center of Alexander Dovzhenko presents the Ukrainian retrospective "Gentle age".

The curators of the shows were the film critics of the scientific and software department of the Dovzhenko Center Anna Onufrienko, Stanislav Menzelewski, Alexander Telyuk, Stanislav Bityutsky.

"Gentle age" is a program consisting of five rebellious and sensual films about the life of different teenagers with similar problems. In these pictures, the linearity of the gradual transition from childhood to adolescence, which is inherent in Soviet cinema,. Thus, the theme of growing on the background of historical changes.

The first tape of the retrospective - the social melodrama directed by Marlen Khutsiev "Two Fedor" (1958) - became one of the leaders of the rental: it was watched by about 20 million spectators. The black and white film, which was shot in Odessa, tells about the broken destinies of the children of the war. The film's heroes are at the intersection of the past - the war - and the future - of the world. Supporting each other, they find the strength to start a new life.

"Long Seeing Off" (1971) Kira Muratova - film-prize winner of the International Film Festival in Locarno - was filmed in 1971, but due to a ban by the Soviet authorities saw the world only in 1987. In the family drama it is told about the life of a lonely mother to her son. After the boy's trip to his father, the woman notices changes in his behavior. Later, after learning about his son's plans to move and start an independent life, the mother faces a difficult task - to learn to let go.

The musical comedy "Ar-chi-me-dy" (1975) was a breakthrough for the Soviet youth of the "stagnation" period. Four odessians were forced to balance between the two professions: seemingly unserious music and praised work at the plant. Bass guitar, guitar, keys and drums forever change the lives of ordinary workers. The story of success and the search for a new place in life from the director Alexander Pavlovsky gathered 26 million spectators after the release on the screens.

The drama directed by Mikhail Belikov "The night is short" (1981) was watched by about 3.9 million viewers only in the first 12 months of rent. The film unfolds in the post-war days. The main character, waiting for the return of his father from the front, falls into a bad company. Feeling the lack of male support, the boy himself has to look for answers to important questions for him. The tape was awarded at the Mannheim-Heidelberg Film Festival.

A sensual drama from the director Igor Minaev "Cold March" (1987) - a touching story about the director of the school and his students - "adolescent teens" who do not want to learn and have problems with the law. However, the teacher sees in adolescents people with complex destinies, not protected from evil and injustice. The tape was shown in the program "Two Minutes of Directors" at the Cannes Film Festival.

"The reassessment of values ??

and the search for one's place in life push aside the Soviet didactics in the films to the background. Tapes shock the viewer with the nakedness of emotions and the pulsation of real life among monotonous Soviet everyday life, "says one of the curators of the program Anna Onufrienko.

Recall that the guest of honor of the 8th Odessa International Film Festival, which will be held from 14 to 22 July, will be the head of the European Film Academy Agnieszka Holland.
