People are increasingly using the credit services of non-banking institutions.

In 2016, non-bank credit and financial institutions of Ukraine issued UAH 37 billion of loans, which is almost 50% of the volume of loans to individuals issued by banks (UAH 77 billion). This is evidenced by the research data "Non-bank financial institutions through the eyes of the consumer", conducted in the framework of the USAID project "Transformation of the financial sector".

"Demand for the services of non-bank financial institutions among the population and small businesses is growing, most likely given the banking crisis and heavy credit conditions," the "Cause" of the project manager Robert Bond.

The largest number of loans last year were given pawnshops - to 16.7 billion UAH. The increase compared to 2014 is 99%.

Other lending institutions issued loans worth UAH 13.4 billion in 2016, increasing volumes from 2014 to 161%. The least amount of loans issued is accounted for by credit unions and financial companies.

The number of non-bank financial institutions grew insignificantly and reached 1,698 at the end of 2016 (1,573 in 2014).

According to the authors of the study, Ukrainians are attracted in such institutions simplicity and speed of registration, low requirements, an extensive network and the possibility of making a loan online.

Recall, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) for the first time established the requirements for the activities of credit intermediaries of banks in the area of ??consumer lending.
