The company Mercedes-Benz will present the second electric car in September this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept was called Mercedes-Benz EQ A.
It is expected that the serial production of a compact electric vehicle, created based on EQ A, will start in 2020. The model will compete with the already-produced BMW i3, reports TTS with reference to Autocar. Its cost will be about 40 thousand euros.
The machine will be built on the platform MEA, designed specifically for electric vehicles. The design of the car will resemble the appearance of the conceptual electriccross driver Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ.
Recall, McLaren is considering the possibility of creating an electric supercar. The company is studying the advantages of fully electric motors. One of their advantages is the relative simplicity. In addition, McLaren attracts the constructive feature of electric vehicles - because of the presence of batteries, the center of gravity is lower, which is beneficial for racing cars.
Earlier in the McLaren have already stated that the new model P1, which is scheduled for release in 2023, may become an electric.
As already reported, the German research group Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has created a new battery that can provide an electric vehicle a journey of 1000 kilometers per charge. As a starting point, the engineers took the fully electrified Tesla car. The latest model of the company - S 100D - is equipped with a battery of 100 kW / h, which allows the car to travel about 540 kilometers on a single charge.
