Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev in his speech before the State Duma spoke about two possible ways to solve the problem with hostels. On this on Wednesday, April 19, the correspondent of "Tapes. RU".

According to the head of government, it is possible to allow the creation of mini-hotels only on the first floors of apartment buildings with their own entrance and exit, as in the case of shops in such buildings.

The second option is more difficult, Medvedev said.. It is a question of obtaining a written permission from all the tenants of the house to accommodate there hotels. "Now if the owners (hostel - prim. "Tapes. Ru ") will convince that this is so necessary and important and will get consent to this, then, probably, this can also be done," the Prime Minister believes..

The head of government added that he does not anticipate new legislative initiatives, but only gives examples of ways to resolve the issue. The prime minister said that the authorities are interested in increasing the number of places in hotels, including in budget accommodation facilities.

"But what is absolutely unacceptable - when such hotels are created on the fifth floor of a ten-story building. It's just disgraceful..

And this must be put a barrier, I mean special regulation, "he explained..

In March, State Duma deputies Alexander Sidyakin and Pavel Kachkaev drafted a bill on the legalization of hostels in residential buildings. They prepared corresponding amendments to the Housing Code.

In May 2016, the lower house of parliament adopted in the first reading a bill prohibiting hostels in multi-unit buildings. The second reading of the document has not yet passed.
