Yun and Colleagues used a deep learning model called EQTRANSFORMER, as well as a method called the comparison of templates to highlight these tiny earthquakes from a noisy seismic background.
The model has discovered a large number of earthquakes with locations corresponding to the eastern part of the American itself, the largest of which coincided with the time of felt messages. As a result, scientists were able to characterize the beginning and peak of the activity of the swarm. Raspberry Shake portable and inexpensive sensors, deployed in August 2022, helped to quickly determine the swarm of the swarm.
The data also showed that the largest earthquake in the swarm of American Samoa had a magnitude of 4.5.
The data indicate that the swarm ended in October 2022 without eruption, but was probably associated with the movement of volcanic magma.
