Under the historical alpine city of Trento in Italy, a perfectly preserved place of burial age 2000 was discovered in Italy. In particular, the researchers found steles almost 2.5 meters high, which were used as tombstones, reports Popular Mechanics.
It was possible to detect the burial place thanks to the restoration work, which were carried out in one of the buildings. The initial opening was made by a group of workers, and then excavations were continued by archaeologists. According to them, the cemetery dates from 900-700 years BC. Scientists have already managed to detect 200 tombs, in some of which the funeral accessories have still been preserved. Researchers believe that this is only the beginning of discoveries.

The finds date back to the Iron Age and precede the Roman presence in the Alps. They give scientists a new idea of the funeral rites of that time, as well as the commercial connections of the inhabitants of Ancient Trento and the surrounding cities.
“Alpine peoples were not isolated. They maintained relations and exchanges with the peoples of the Poe River Valley, in particular, between 900 and 700 BC. , with the area of Emilia, with the flourishing civilization of the Etruscans, and subsequently with the Venetians and other nations of the Alps, ”said Franco Martsatiko from the Office of the Archaeological Heritage of the Superintendant on the Cultural Heritage and the activities of the autonomous province of Trento.
According to scientists, the territory around modern Trento in the past was very distinguished by a wider riverbed and a network of streams. Probably, the necropolis arose in a dryer part of the ancient city, it was built in several phases of burials in the Iron Age. At some point, the nearby channels flooded him and retained burials, which are now eight meters below the modern city.
“An incredible discovery that shows us a new history of the city of Trento is not just like a Roman city. The work continues, but it remains to be examined by an entire territory to then evaluate it, ”said Francesca Jeroza, vice president and provincial cultural adviser.
An unprocessed limestone was used to build steles, which was probably mined on the eastern hills of Trento. Stone steles designated the basic burials of the necropolis with burial chambers, while the coffins were covered with mounds. The planning of the burial indicates that over time, related tombs appeared around the main burials.
Inside the coffins, archaeologists discovered ash and calcified fragments of the bones, which in the past were in special containers. They were placed under funeral objects wrapped in fabric.
Archaeologists have discovered metal guns and complex decorative products, some with amber and glass paste. They show the connection of ancient Trento with Italian culture, and also reflect the commercial and cultural contacts that existed at that time.
“The Iron Age is a period of deep transformations from a historical and cultural point of view throughout the Mediterranean, in the Alps and Alpas. The great civilizations of Etruscans, Phoenicians, Greeks and Celts flourished. These were also the times of the first Olympic Games, which traditionally date back to 776 BC, and the founding of Rome in 753 BC. During the archaeological excavations that are being conducted now, we have the opportunity to find out about the elite of a society that, obviously, inhabited the Basin Trento and which represented its power and prestige by placing objects symbolizing its privileged status, ”Martsatiko said.
Earlier, archaeologists discovered three cache with gold and silver products in the Netherlands, as well as hundreds of coins in the Netherlands. The age of finds is 1300 years, according to researchers, they can be "
