Archaeologists who are excavations in Chupasigarro in Peru discovered a new, previously unknown pyramidal structure. Chupasigarro is part of the archaeological zone of karal, located only one kilometer west of the Holy City of Karal in the Valley of Soup in the Lima region in Peru, reports Heritage Daily.

Now, scientists managed to find a pyramidal structure that was hidden under a thick undergrowth and trees. After clearing vegetation, archaeologists discovered stone walls that form three separate platforms. Studying the walls, the researchers also discovered large stones known as Huancas, which marked the corners of the structure and the central staircase leading to the top.
“Studies of this recently discovered structure will help a team from the archaeological zone of karal to better understand the full urban layout of the Chupasigarro settlement. These findings will also contribute to the preservation and development of the facility, which will open it for visitors with karal, ”the press release of the Ministry of Culture of Peru says.
