Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan on FOX Business TV channel expressed concern about the general fascination of people with bitcoin, questioning the viability and sustainability of crypto-currency in the long run.

"Human nature is such that if you get something like bitcoin, you think that there is some value in this, despite the fact that it is not there," said the former head of the Fed..

With the approval of Greenspan, the former chairman of the Futures Exchange Commission (CFTC), Bart Chilton. On the air of the telecast "Mornings with Maria" he expressed the following argument in favor of bitcoin:.

"I believe that he [bitcoin] is viable," said Chilton.. "If people are willing to pay for it, it means that there is demand".

In general, despite widespread negative stereotypes and criticism of crypto-currencies, the former head of the CFTC considers the circulation of bitcoins to be quite acceptable.

"I do not think this is a fraud like the one Jamie Dimon was talking about, or the pyramid scheme that President Putin was talking about. I believe that people actually use bitcoin to buy things. Thus, this is not a scam or fraud, "added Chilton.

Also, the former head of the CFTC believes that the CME Group's plans for bitcoin will help regulate the scope of the crypto-currency, which, in his opinion, is necessary for them.

"CME group did a great job. You know, I regulated them for a long time, and therefore I have a good idea of ??what they are doing, "he said..

Also, Chilton expressed the hope that when regulating bitcoin power structures will not go into extremes:.

"They should not show excessive fanaticism and excessive zeal, limited to only some measures aimed at protecting consumers".
