In the second quarter of 2017, Samsung significantly strengthened its global market for mobile devices for business needs, while Apple's positions weakened, according to research company Strategy Analytics.
According to experts, in the past quarter there were signs of a recovery in demand: shipments of smartphones for business grew by 14.8% year-on-year and reached 107.1 million units, and tablets - by 0.7%, to 17.3 million units. At the same time, experts also recorded a quarterly growth of 6.1% and 7.5% respectively.
Samsung demonstrated a steady increase in the supply of smartphones for business needs, in contrast to Apple, which declined by 11%. The Android and iOS operating systems continue to be the dominant platforms in the market under consideration, while Windows-smartphone shipments continue to decline - their share is already close to zero, the study said..
Analyzing the situation in the segment of business tablets, analysts added that it is characterized by greater volatility and heterogeneity of demand than smartphones. In particular, in North America, business tablet shipments increased by 5.4% quarter-on-quarter, but in annual terms they decreased by 4.2%. A similar situation was observed in Central and Latin America, where a quarterly increase of 2.
2% and an annual decline of 6.1%.
At the same time, the Strategy Analytics study shows that the market for tablets for business users is developing better dynamics than in the tablet industry as a whole. Earlier IDC experts reported on the eleventh consecutive decline in world supplies of "tablets". In April-June of 2017, 37.9 million tablet devices entered the market, which is 3.4% less than the figures for a year ago, when shipments reached 39.3 million units.
