Analytical company IHS Markit unveiled the results of the study of the world market of liquid crystal displays. According to experts, manufacturers are increasing the production of TV screens, which can lead to a growth in the market by 6% in terms of the total area of ??panels delivered this year.

IHS Markit predicts that shipments of LCD-displays on a global scale in 2017 will rise by 1% compared to 2016 and reach 688 million units. The total area of ??such screens will increase from 170 to 180 million square meters.

According to the expectations of experts, the shipments of displays for tablets will grow in 2017 at a record value - by 10%, to 93 million units. This recovery is due to the release of new large-sized devices from leading brands. Among them - 10.5-inch iPad Pro from Apple.

The second in terms of growth segment analysts called screens for laptops. Here, supplies will increase by 4%, amounting to 175 million units in the current year. The situation is that Chinese panel manufacturers are actively seeking to strengthen their positions in the market, while the largest players are reducing the production of displays for laptops.

The segment of television displays is forecasting a 3-percent decline in 2017 - up to 257 million units - due to weakening demand in the final market.

"The prices for large displays, especially for TVs, remained high almost a year. TV brands began to revise their business plans, reducing the purchase of panels, "said Peter Su, senior analyst at IHS Markit,.

Despite the decline in the supply of large displays in physical terms, this segment demonstrates growth in terms of the total area of ??output. In this respect, TV displays occupy 78% of the market and will show an increase of 5% in 2017, experts expect.

Peter Su says that the largest panel manufacturers are converting their capacity to produce larger products - from 49 inches diagonally and above. The production of small screens is shrinking, as they bring insignificant margins and prevent companies from performing financial tasks. This example is followed by Chinese vendors, who are now focused on creating 43-inch or larger TV displays, added Su.

The leaders of the world market of LCD displays are analysts called LG Display (forecasted by the results of 2017, the share is 21%), BOE (20.7%), Innolux (16%), AUO (15.4%) and Samsung (9.6% ).
