The largest trading platform in darknet, AlphaBay, where they sold a variety of illegal goods and services, from drugs to stolen bank cards, unexpectedly went offline one week ago.

As we already wrote earlier, frightened users of Darknet Market almost immediately began to suspect the worst. At first, users assumed that there was a so-called exit scam, that is, the resource operators decided to hide with all the money (which in the darknet happens not so rare). However, people connected with the administration of AlphaBay, contacted, briefly reported that everything is in order and the servers are being updated.

A few days later, when AlphaBay never returned to service, users started talking about a possible police operation, that is, they suspected that the trading platform could be closed by the authorities. On sabreddite AlphaBay began to appear assumptions that you can not believe the messages of administrators, since representatives of law enforcement agencies can write from their accounts.

Today, July 14, 2017, the Wall Street Journal reported that the fears of users were not in vain. According to journalists who refer to their own sources close to the investigation, AlphaBay was closed by law enforcement agencies of the United States, Canada and Thailand, who conducted a joint operation last week.

It is reported that as a result of the operation there were not only searches, but also on the territory of Thailand on July 5, 2017, was arrested citizen of Canada Alexander Kaz (Alexandre Cazes), who was one of the leaders of the resource.

According to the Thai media, Kaz lived in the country for eight years and after the arrest of the authorities confiscated four of his car Lamborghini, as well as three houses, a total cost of 11.7 million dollars.

Kaza was to be extradited to the US, but on July 12, 2017, he was found hanged in a cell of a Thai prison. According to official reports, he committed suicide.
