According to sources, on July 1, Micron suspended the operation of the Fab-2 factory, which manufactures DRAM.

The reason was a malfunction in the nitrogen dosing system, which led to contamination of the semiconductor wafers. Analysts say that because of the accident, Micron lost about 60,000 plates, which corresponds to 5.5% of the monthly output of the entire industry.

On the one hand, it seems that it is not so much. But on the other - the memory of DRAM and so for a long time is in short supply, because of what prices are rising. So the accident at the Micron factory will further exacerbate the situation, analysts say, and will lead to further price increases.

In addition, this factory produces, among other things, LPDDR4 chips that are part of the supply chain for iPhone smartphones, so the situation may affect the supply of these devices.
