Apple, as is known, intends to place a fingerprint scanner under the display iPhone 8. But unexpectedly for many, this technology was first demonstrated by the Chinese Android manufacturer.

On the official YouTube channel Vivo appeared teaser smartphone with a built-in display biometric module.

The sensor is located behind the display panel, but the sensor corresponds to only a small portion of the screen. It would be more convenient to be able to unlock the phone by touching the desired finger anywhere on the screen. In Vivo noted that it would have made the product more expensive, but it is possible that the sensor will still be much more than usual - the ability to recognize fingerprints will give the lower half of the screen.

When Vivo starts selling smartphone, it's not known.

Earlier, Qualcomm introduced its new ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, which can be placed behind an OLED screen with a thickness of up to 1.2 mm. Probably, in the smartphone Vivo the sensor of this manufacturer is used.

Qualcomm previously said that the first serial devices with sensors for scanning prints through glass and metal will be released in the first half of 2018. The sensor for scanning through the display will be available to OEMs at the end of 2017.
