Judging by the latest news, which with frightening frequency appear on the pages of thematic publications, Google Play as never before is vulnerable to malicious programs. It does not take two weeks for experts in the field of information security not to disclose the discovery of a new Trojan hiding under the guise of an inoffensive puzzle or utility. It happened this time too.
According to Kaspersky Lab experts, at the moment there can be up to a thousand applications with spyware functionality on Google Play.
Most of them contain the Trojan code Ztorg, which requests access to SMS, which makes it possible to send messages from fake numbers and, having access to one-time passwords, can take over the victim's bank accounts.
Can I protect myself from the Trojan? Of course, there is no guarantee that the danger will bypass you, but your vigilance can complicate the life of intruders. Whenever you download a new application to your device, keep track of the permissions it requests. Deny access to the installed software to those features of the smartphone that it does not need. For example, if the browser requests access to SMS messages, you should think well.
