Essential, the new company of one of the creators of the Android platform, Andy Rubin, can, besides releasing smartphones and accessories for the "smart" home,.

This is evidenced by an old patent application found by experts from Patently Apple. It describes the concept of the device in the form of a standard pair of glasses, but with a built-in camera and display.

Like Snapchat's worn Spectacles device, the patented Essential gadget will be used to capture photos and videos at eye level thanks to the built-in camera. However, like Google Glass, Essential smart glasses will complement the real environment with digital information and images with the help of some type of Augmented Reality technologies.

The document describes a device equipped with prescription, photosensitive and sunscreen lenses. It also talks about a "dual-mode display" that will use the camera inward to track the eyes.

The patent also describes the use of augmented reality in the device, such as real-time price comparison in the store.

"Based on the environment that the user sees, and depending on the direction of the user's view, the processor can add an image to supplement its environment," the document says.. - For example, if a user looks at the barcode of a product, the device may also display cheaper options for buying the same name ".

In an interview with Wired, published this week, Rubin mentioned Glass Glass smart glasses, saying that they "failed not because the technology was bad, but because the world was not ready for them". Quite possibly, Rubin has his own ideas how to make smart glasses popular.
