On the day of the presentation of the "smart" column Echo Show, the Bloomberg publication confirmed Apple's interest in creating its own "smart" home assistant. A device called Siri Speaker is said to have been tested by company employees over the past few months.
"Apple employees are testing the device in their homes in the last few months," the publication wrote, citing sources close to the company.
Echo Show is equipped with a 7-inch touch screen that allows users to receive answers to their queries: for example, full information about the weather forecast or specific actions for cooking by recipes. Curiously, this is exactly what Apple Vice President Phil Schiller said last week when he was asked about the attitude to "clever" assistants. According to him, the voice interface is in some cases convenient, but working with cards or playing only with voice is inconvenient or even not realistic.
Schiller, of course, did not comment on the rumors that Apple itself is preparing a home assistant on the basis of Siri, but a detailed conversation about the limitations of voice control gives reason to believe that the smart column from the Californian giant will also be with a screen.
New from Amazon can be used for video playback, including for watching videos from YouTube. Echo Show also works with other Amazon services. For example, you can place an order for Amazon.
Com or listen to music from the company's own service, Spotify or Pandora. Apple Music support in the Echo Show is not provided.
Siri Speaker rumors attribute the support of AirPlay, Apple Music, the ability to manage home smart devices, thanks to deep integration with HomeKit, as well as the opportunity to contact the assistant at any time with various assignments.
The announcement of Apple's "smart" speaker system is expected in June at WWDC, and sales of new items should begin in autumn.
