Coronavirus vaccine developed at Oxford University looks safe and trains the immune system.
The BBC reports.
The test results, published in the medical journal The Lancet, show that the vaccine, which is under development by AstraZeneca and scientists at British Oxford University, did not cause any serious side effects and triggered immune responses of antibodies and T cells..
Tests involving 1,077 people showed that the injection led them to produce antibodies and white blood cells that are able to fight the coronavirus.
There were no dangerous side effects from taking the vaccine, however 70% of people during the trial had fever and headaches..
The results are very promising, but it's too early to tell if this is enough to provide protection, and larger trials are underway..
