Scientists have analyzed 79 scientific papers on the effect of omega-3 fatty acids on the cardiovascular system. These substances are considered to be extremely useful, but the researchers claim: they did not find evidence of their usefulness.

Specialists of the Cochrane Library, whose work is devoted to the publication in The Guardian, studied the effects of the use of supplements with omega-3 fatty acids and compared them with those of people who did not use them. The benefits of omega-3 they did not find.

According to them, only alpha-linolenic acid (one of the types of omega-3 fatty acids) present in walnuts showed a slight improvement in the parameters of the heart. Fish oil (it contains eicosapentaenoic acid) and was completely useless for the cardiovascular system.

"The tests of the late 80s and early 90s created a stereotype that omega-3 fatty acids reduce the risk of heart attack. But no research has since proved this statement visually, "said the curator of the project, Dr. Lee Hooper of the University of East Anglia.

But does this mean that the fat fish, so ardently praised for its usefulness, is not really that good? Scientists argue: the fish contains many other useful ingredients, such as iodine, calcium and vitamin D - so there is a need for it.
