Protect skin from sunlight and avoid toxic sunscreens - then the skin will be safe.

We are constantly told that before going to the beach you should apply a protective cream on your skin to protect it from harmful sun rays. However, the harm from the very advice can be more than good. Chemical filters contained in most of these drugs can get into the skin and cause hormonal imbalance, allergic reactions and other health problems.

Oxibenzone, one of the most dangerous components of protective creams, is associated even with endometriosis and underweight in newborns.

Sunscreens also do not allow enough to get vitamin D - a solar vitamin. But its deficiency is a significant factor that contributes to the development of various chronic diseases, for example, cardiovascular, diabetes and even skin cancer. Therefore, before buying your favorite sunscreen, spray or lotion, read some simple tips. They will help you make the exposure to the sun safer.

1Select reliable sunscreen.

Do you plan to spend on the beach for a long time? A safe alternative to chemical sunscreens is mineral filters, especially zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which do not penetrate deeply into the skin. Zinc oxide is also recommended by the US Consumer Protection Organization Environmental Working Group, as this substance remains stable in the sunlight, protecting the skin from a wide range of rays. Many manufacturers of natural cosmetics offer sunscreen products with zinc oxide.

2Approved biologically active food additives.

Taking these supplements before the beach season, you can strengthen the natural protective abilities of the skin.

Antioxidants, for example, vitamins C and E. They protect the skin from the sizzling effect of ultraviolet light. Dose: 2 g of vitamin C per day; 1000 SV Vitamin E per day.

Carotenoids, for example, beta-carotene (found in carrots) and lycopene (rich in tomatoes and watermelons). They have a sunscreen effect and help to recover faster after a solar trauma. Dose: 30-90 mg of mixed carotenoids per day; 16 mg of lycopene per day (this amount can be obtained by eating 1-2 fresh tomatoes every day).

Pycnogenol, an extract of the bark of the French maritime pine. Increases skin resistance to sunlight UV rays. Dose: 90 mg per day.

3Eat chocolate.

This treat contains many flavonoids - useful compounds acting as a natural sunscreen. Scientists have found out: only 20 g of chocolate per day helped the skin withstand twice the dose of UV rays before the burn began to form.

The higher the content of cocoa in chocolate, the more flavonoids it contains. Therefore, preference should be given to tiles, which contain not less than 70% cocoa.

Menu for a beautiful tan: make a beach diet 4 Drink coffee and go in for sports.

Researchers claim: caffeine, contained in coffee and tea,.

is able to protect us from skin cancer, which often occurs due to increased insolation. Caffeine is more effective if used in combination with physical activity. When mice predisposed to skin cancer were given caffeine and allowed to run in the wheel, they had almost two-thirds less skin tumors.

Of course, studies involving animals can not always be extended to humans, however, in this case, scientists believe that for us this combination could also be useful.

5Remember the time.

To replenish the vitamin D stores in the body, it's enough to be in the sun without a protective cream for about 15 minutes a day (the specific duration determines the type of skin - it should slightly turn pink, but not burn). But from a long stay on the beach should be abandoned, especially from 11 to 15 hours, when the UV rays are maximally "aggressive". If you are forced to stay in the sun for a long time, use a safe and natural cream or wear clothes to protect open areas of the body.
