Scientists from Switzerland denied the myth that special toothpastes can strengthen tooth enamel or reduce the sensitivity of dentin.

To conduct the experience of scientists prompted an increase in the number of toothpastes that claim to strengthen tooth enamel and reduce the sensitivity of dentine in the market.

For the experiment, scientists took eight popular in Brazil and Europe special toothpastes and one common for the control sample.

The experiment was carried out on small molars, which donated patients to dental clinics.

In the laboratory, specialists modeled the process of tooth cleaning and evaluated the effect of toothpastes on enamel. They found out that all the tested pastes caused a progressive loss of enamel. At the same time, the "healing" mouths were not much different from the control sample.

According to experts, the main function of toothpaste is cleansing, not treatment.
