People who are late used to stay up late sleep, eat less full-fledged foods, although they are not prone to overeating and recruiting excess kilograms.

An unexpected danger to the health of night owls is reported at the SLEEP 2016 conference in Denver.

If you believe the estimates of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States, then almost every third American suffers from chronic lack of sleep, allocating to sleep less than 6.5 hours a day.

At the same time, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Society for the Study of Sleep recommend that all healthy people aged 18-60 years sleep at least 7 hours a day, so as not to destroy their health.

It would seem that I have not had enough sleep - and okay, the next time I catch up. But in fact, everything is much more serious. Our nature requires the nervous system to rest, otherwise the problems are inevitable. Chronic lack of sleep increases the risk of diabetes, obesity, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, stroke and mental disorders.

Past studies have confirmed that lack of sleep causes a metabolic disorder and circadian rhythms, which in combination with unscheduled night trips to the kitchen and sitting at the monitor leads to excess weight.

Fast food is a companion of insomnia.

A team of biologists and physicians from Northwestern University in Chicago, led by Dr. Kelly Glazer Baron, observed the habits and body condition of 96 volunteers. The project participants were from 18 to 50 years old, they were all healthy and used to sleep at least 6.5 hours a day.

To monitor sleep, scientists used wrist actography - a modern method in which participants wear electronic bracelets (SenseWear), fixing the slightest movements of the body. In addition, all participants filled out detailed diaries and underwent in-depth medical examination, measuring body fat content, analyzing circadian rhythms and melatonin secretion.

In the course of statistical analysis, the authors took into account factors such as gender, age, quality and duration of sleep, the level of activity of participants and much more.

It turned out that healthy adults who fall asleep are no more inclined to weight gain and hypodynamia than others. Late retirement only affects the quality of the diet: more fast food, more sugar and fat.

This suggests that night owls, even if they do not get fat at once, but lay their foundation for old diseases, such as hypertension, atherosclerosis and diabetes. And if you add more stress here?.

"Modern civilization kills itself, depriving a full sleep. If you came home, tired after a busy day, then it's best to turn off TVs, computers, smartphones, and just relax. Do not overcome yourself, "advises Dr. Wayne Giles, director of the public health department at the US Central Research Center.
