In winter, I always gain 3-4 kilograms, which then go away by themselves by summer. Is it a feature of my body or is it all arranged? And how to deal with this?.

Inna Aleshina From winter kilograms suffer far from unity - this is the common problem of the inhabitants of not even Russia, but all more or less cold countries. On average, say nutritionists, a person begins to eat 6-7% more than in the warm season, and gradually becomes fuller. And in the spring and especially in summer, the consumption of food is again reduced - and kilograms are gone, although not always.

Why is this happening? Versions of doctors have several. One of them says that the transition to an enhanced diet in the cold season is laid in our genes. In the distant past, when people did not have much special ways to keep warm, even food helped to keep warm. In addition, in winter, food sources for a person became much scarcer, which means that in order to prepare themselves for the cold, it was necessary to eat hard in the autumn and in the first snow months.

Now, when modern heating systems and 24-hour supermarkets are at our disposal, the old habit still persecutes us, and overpowering it is like trying to deceive one's instincts, some scientists believe.

According to another theory, a person is arranged so that in the evening, in the absence of sunlight, our taste perception is exacerbated, and hence the pleasure from eating we get more. And since we spend the winter evenings at home much more often than the summer evenings, it is in winter that the temptation to eat a bite at night looks - and more.

Adherents of this theory also believe that after 5 pm our brain loses the ability to perceive the satiety hormone as sharply as in the daytime. That is, to eat in the evening, you must swallow more than in the afternoon.

There is also a purely psychological explanation for the phenomenon of "winter kilograms," say supporters of the third theory. They also agree that in winter people are at home more than in other seasons. And at home, when there is nothing to do and the window is boring and cloudy, it only remains that to sit in front of the TV screen and chew. Meanwhile, one of the studies of American scientists has shown that people eat a little more behind the TV screen than if they ate simply.
