Scientists of the Dutch National Institute of Health analyzed a diet of approximately 3,000 children aged 2 years. They found that by the 3rd year the probability of developing bronchial asthma was significantly lower in those children who daily consumed dairy products and butter.

Researchers led by Dr. Alet Vijga believe that this effect can be due to certain types of fatty acids contained in non-fatty dairy products.

"We believe that the role of fatty acids can be very important. The fats that we consume consist of different types of fatty acids depending on different foods. The balance between these species affects the functioning of our immune system. Perhaps the wide prevalence of allergic diseases in the world (and they often lead to the development of asthma) is caused precisely by a violation of the balance in the consumption of fatty acids, "said Dr. Wijga.
