Diseases of the kidneys and bladder during pregnancy occur quite often and range from 15 to 30%. This is due to the spread of urinary tract diseases and provoking factors during pregnancy (compression of the bladder and kidneys, heavy load, intensive metabolism, enlargement of renal pelvis, deterioration of blood circulation and t. The most common in pregnant women is pyelonephritis and cystitis, less often glomerulonephritis, urolithiasis, renal colic. Especially undesirable occurrence of pregnancy in women with one kidney, with renal failure.

Pregnancy with pyelonephritis. During pregnancy, there is often an exacerbation of a previously existing pyelonephritis (an indication of this can be found in an anamnesis, even if the woman did not know about her disease, she can tell about the symptoms of the disease or complications after sore throat, flu or scarlet fever). There are cases when pyelonephritis arose for the first time during pregnancy (the so-called gestational pyelonephritis).

Development of pyelonephritis is often promoted by nephroptosis and developed on its background hydronephrosis, which can worsen during pregnancy.

Pyelonephritis very often develops in the puerperium.

The clinic of pyelonephritis is quite simple: back pain, soreness in case of loosening at the waist, dysuric phenomena (painful and frequent urination, changes in the quality and quantity of urine), fever, chills, deterioration of health, aches, headache. There are often subclinical manifestations.

Complications of this disease can be: polyhydramnios, fetal diseases, frozen pregnancy, miscarriage, gestosis, postpartum infectious complications, septic complications. The diagnosis is based on the clinic and laboratory studies. In the clinical analysis of urine leucocyturia, pyuria, bacteriuria. To clarify the diagnosis and type of pathogen, urine culture is carried out. Urinalysis is prescribed by the method of Nechiporenko, Zimnitsky, Addis-Kokovskiy.

The diet is recommended with the restriction of spicy and salty foods. At the heart of drug therapy, antibiotics and uroantiseptics. Firstly, broad-spectrum drugs are prescribed. Nitrofuran uroantiseptics are often prescribed: furagin, furadonin. Very effective are the derivatives of oxyquinoline nitroxoline, or 5-NOK, derivatives of naphthyridine (neviramone).
