Many patients with migraine are at high risk of damage to the brain tissue - says Dr. Mark C. Kruit from the medical center of Leiden University (Netherlands).
The scientists observed 161 patients with migraine and aura, 134 with migraine without an aura and 140 people made up a control group. In patients with migraine with aura, the risk of cerebral infarction increased almost 11-fold, and in patients with migraine attacks without aura 9-fold compared with the control group.
Thus, the prevention of migraine attacks and active early medication will help prevent organic damage to the brain tissue.
