Babies born in rainy autumn or cold winter, see better than those who were born in the spring day or summer heat, scientists believe. This conclusion was reached by Israeli researchers from the Tel Aviv University, having processed data obtained from a vision test of more than three hundred thousand schoolchildren and students from sixteen to twenty-three years.

Ophthalmologists compared the scope of myopia with the birth month of adolescents and received impressive results - those who were born in the summer months had a 24% higher risk of developing myopia than children born in December and January.

Doctors suggest that poor vision of "summer" children is associated with the long-term effect of exposure to natural light during pregnancy.

According to scientists, the eyeball of myopic people is prolonged, which is due to long-term exposure to sunlight and reduced production of melatonin pigment, but physicians are not sure how this mechanism works in fetal development.
