Young children receive insufficient amounts of vitamin D. Deficiency of this vitamin is not detected immediately, which leads to brittle bones and weaken the immune system, according to American scientists.

Scientists from a hospital in Boston conducted a study in which 380 children aged 8 months to 2 years. It turned out that many of them have a vitamin D level below the optimal level.

According to scientists, the main reason for the lack of vitamin D in children's blood is that they do not consume vitaminized milk. The study was published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.

Vitamin D is produced as a result of exposure to the skin of the sun's rays. It is an important component for maintaining bones strong and preventing chronic diseases. The level of this vitamin in the body is very important, but its deficiency does not appear immediately, which is also a problem.

Specialists found that even those children who were breastfed lack vitamin D, since breast milk is very useful, but it is not able to make up for the deficiency of this vitamin. Immunity is formed in childhood, so the lack of vitamins is so important in this period.

Experts advise parents and children to consume foods with vitamin D content, as well as sunbathe in hours that are safe for the skin, as it can be harmful by taking long sunbaths during the period of the greatest solar activity (lunch time).
