Low level of vitamin D promotes chronic pain in women, scientists believe.

For men, this relationship was not identified. Scientists suggest that hormones play a key role in this process. The study was published in the journal Annals of Rheumatic Diseases.

Scientists from the Institute of Children's Health in London have decided to find out whether it is possible to use the use of vitamin D in the fight against chronic pain in women. Until now, physicians believed that one of the causes of chronic pain is the emotional factor. Dr. Elina Hypponen and her colleagues believe that vitamin D levels play a key role in some chronic pain cases.

Scientists studied 7 thousand men and women aged 45 years who reported cases of chronic pain.

It turned out that the low level of vitamin D in women was a significant factor responsible for cases of chronic pain.

These differences were due not to gender differences in lifestyle and social factors, but, according to experts, the cause was covered in hormones. Scientists warn that excessive intake of vitamin D in the fight against chronic pain is harmful and can lead to an elevated level of calcium in the body and other side effects. About the necessary dosage, experts recommend consulting a doctor.
