A small intake of vitamins A and C in the body together with food increases the risk of developing asthma, scientists believe. Combining the results of 40 studies conducted between 1980 and 2007, they saw that patients with asthma eat significantly less foods containing vitamin A. On average, they were consumed at a dose of 182 micrograms per day, which is only a third of the norm.

Also, patients with severe asthma have a half-lower intake of vitamin C. Reducing its level in the blood increases the risk of disease by 12%.

The relationship between consumption of vitamin E and the risk of asthma is not revealed, but in patients with asthma levels of this vitamin in the blood are still underestimated. It turned out that people with severe asthma use it 20% lower than recommended. These findings do not indicate the causes and effects of the disease, but confirm the effect of antioxidants on the development of asthma.
