Scientists at Harvard University, after analyzing the data of 30 years of research, came to the unexpected conclusion - the higher in a person the coefficient of intellectual development (IQ), the less he will be affected by illness in adulthood.

The results of the study were published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. Scientists studied the development of 633 children aged 7 years living in the city of Providence (Rhode Island). After 30 years, the same people again underwent research. It turned out that those who in childhood were sharp-minded adults grew healthier than their less intelligent peers.

The most common diseases to which not very intelligent people are exposed - diabetes, asthma, cancer, cardiovascular problems, arthritis and stroke. Researchers conducted a series of experiments, neutralizing such indicators as low birth weight, which, as is known, adversely affects mental development, as well as socioeconomic reasons, but the inputs remain the same.

Such results, according to scientists, can be explained by the fact that people more intellectually developed lead a healthier lifestyle, less risk their health and use the services of the health system. Dr.

Cynthia McCoy of the University of Glasgow commented on the results of the study as follows: "It is logical that more intelligent children will occupy highly paid posts that will allow them to have good health insurance. With its help, people will be able to monitor their health more closely and detect diseases in the early stages. In addition, non-working people are exposed to stress on this soil, which also leads to negative habits - smoking, drug use and consumption of fatty foods ».
