Following a typical Western diet of burgers and soda significantly increased the risk of developing senile dementia in experiments with laboratory mice. Experts have found that this kind of food leads to the appearance of brain-dangerous beta-amyloid proteins.

Following the Western diet increases the risk of senile dementia, according to the results of laboratory studies. The constant inclusion in the diet of fatty and sweet food like burgers and fried potatoes causes an unhealthy weight gain. This was known a few decades ago, but now researchers argue that the regular use of this variety of food not only provokes obesity, but also increases the risk of senile dementia.

A new study was conducted on laboratory mice, but two previous studies of scientists have also shown a similar relationship between nutritional factors and people. The Western diet increased the level of cholesterol and special beta-amyloid proteins, from which plaques are formed in the brain, gradually blocking and destroying this organ. It is by the presence of beta-amyloid plaques often diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or senile dementia.

A new study was conducted by neurologists at the University of Western California in Los Angeles.

They argue that obesity is also an important risk factor for brain disease, and this hypothesis was tested in mice. Rodents with the inherited version of the APOE4 gene, which is available in 12% of Russians, were fed a traditional Western diet. Because of their genetic inheritance, such mice were more likely to gain weight, and in their body more frequent accumulations of beta-amyloid proteins, which together with glial cells caused the death of brain nerve cells, inflammation and senile dementia in the end.
