The most comprehensive survey of pregnancy safety studies for multiple sclerosis has been published, according to an online edition for girls and women aged 14-35 who have been diagnosed with Pannochka. Net A few years ago it was believed that women with multiple sclerosis should avoid pregnancy, as it can lead to exacerbations and worsening of the course of the disease.

However, studies of recent decades have convincingly shown that during pregnancy the condition of women with MS often improves. This is probably due to a decrease in the activity of the immune system and the production of endogenous anti-inflammatory hormones during pregnancy. In addition, it was shown that multiple sclerosis does not increase the risk of complications of pregnancy. The BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology has published a survey of 22 international studies since 1980 that included a total of more than 13,000 observations. Summarizing the results of all studies, the authors of the review showed that during pregnancy, exacerbations of the disease are less common, and in the first few months after childbirth, it is somewhat more frequent than in non-pregnant women.

However, at the time of observation, the year before pregnancy and the year after childbirth, the average number of exacerbations per year does not change. Exacerbations that develop after childbirth do not affect the long-term risk of incapacity for work. The frequency of spontaneous abortion, premature birth, the birth of children with insufficient body weight or with congenital defects in women with MS is not higher than in the population. The only risk is the abolition of PITRS, none of which are allowed to be used in pregnancy.
