Women suffering from heart failure are much more likely to survive compared to men with a similar diagnosis, US scientists said..

Researchers from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta analyzed the results of a study in which 5888 patients aged 65 years and over. During 3 years of observation, heart failure occurred in 1264 people and 1020 people died.

The authors analyzed gender characteristics of general and cardiovascular mortality.

In women, the overall mortality rate was lower, to which men, regardless of race. Multifactor analysis has shown that in women the relative risk of mortality from all causes in general and cardiovascular causes in particular is 15-20% lower than in men.

Scientists believe that the results of the study give grounds for more thorough examinations in men and generally be more responsible to their health to the representatives of the stronger sex.
